Who We Are . . .
Mole Avon Trading Limited has served the farming and rural communities of Devon and the South West for over 35 years.
Originally founded in Crediton as a farmers buying group in 1966, it became a limited company in 1973 and has since enjoyed sustained growth over the last quarter of a century or more. Today, there are in excess of 800 Shareholders and 1500 Annual Trading Members who see the value in 'belonging' to our organisation.
Following its opening at Crediton, the business expanded and during the 1970's added branches at Okehampton and Axminster. Direct Sales was conceived in 1991 followed by Town & Countrywear in Crediton in 1992. Our three branches began trading under the 'Mole Avon Town & Country Stores' name in 1994 following which major investment and expansion programmes were undertaken at Axminster (1994) and Okehampton (1999 & 2007). The Mole Avon Forecourt has been an integral part of our Okehampton site for over 25 years and in 2007 this was expanded to include a Spar shop. This continual investment is a powerful symbol of our commitment to the areas in which we trade.
Despite a changing and challenging agricultural and rural environment, Mole Avon has achieved growth in a highly competitive market. We have, and continue to produce consistently solid operating results with annual turnover now in excess of £18 million.
Today, although the emphasis remains guided towards the interests of the farmer, smallholder and rural community, Mole Avon is available to the wider public. We are committed to maintaining our wide product offering combined with a high level of service. We do this through understanding the needs of you, our customer.
