Countryside Productivity Small Grant Scheme

Natalie, from our Farm Support Team, attended the Countryside Productivity Scheme Demonstration afternoon held by The Exmoor Hill Farming Network at Cutcombe Market last week to hear the latest information on the grant scheme. Countryside Productivity Small Grant Scheme

The RDPE Countryside Productivity Small Grant scheme provides funding for farmers to purchase equipment to improve the productivity of their farm. It is an online application process and is targeted at supporting investment for specific pieces of agricultural equipment.

Who can apply?

  • Farmers; livestock, dairy, arable and horticultural.
  • Agents can apply on behalf of a farmer however conditions apply.

What are the grants for?

  • Items listed in Annex 3 of the scheme handbook have been identified as aids in helping achieve improvements in animal welfare, resource efficiency and nutrient management. The items are categorised in the application under; Cattle equipment, Sheep equipment, Pig equipment, General livestock equipment, Precision farming equipment, Resource management equipment and General equipment.

How much money can you apply for?

  • Grants can cover up to 40% of the eligible costs of the submitted application. Minimum grant amount of £3,000 to a maximum grant of £12,000 (total spend £7,500 to receive minimum grant payment). Farmers in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly can apply for a grant of up to 50% of the eligible costs.

  • Information you will need to have to hand; Single Business Indicator (SBI) number, Customer Registration Number (CRN), email address, business address, farm size, stock numbers and type, number of employees.
  • Applications can be withdrawn at any time up to 14 days after accepting your offer of a grant. This must be done by emailing Failure to do so will result in a breach of application and could make future applications void.
  • Your details on your application must match the details that are on your Rural Payments. You may only proceed with one successful application for this scheme, you will not be able to apply for further funding if there were another round.
  • You must not order or buy any of the items in your application before you have received confirmation your application has been approved.

Claiming your grant

  • Successful applicants will receive an email containing a Grant Fund Agreement which includes your grant claim form. Unsuccessful applicants will receive an email explaining that they haven’t been successful and the reason why.
  • All items selected in your application must be purchased and claimed within 150 calendar days of receiving your Grant Funding Agreement email. Your application can not be amended. Please consult page 16 of the handbook for further information.
  • You will be required to provide invoices for purchased items which include the following details: Item description, Item code from Annex 3, billing address to match application. Suppliers name, address, VAT, telephone number alongside date.
  • Items purchased with grant funding should remain in situ and in good operational condition for a period of 5 years. You must tell RPA in advance of any changes.
